So you're new to the rave scene or you're an avid festival goer. Regardless, you want to look your best at your next event and you're ready to add a little sparkle to your rave makeup look. In this article, we will teach you step-by-step instructions on how to apply highlighter/glitter like a pro and add that extra little sparkle to complete your favorite rave makeup look!
Why do we even want to highlight areas of your face?
Well for starters, highlight brightens certain areas of the face. When combined with bronzer, it gives the face more structure and definition. We also recommend adding fine or chunky glitter over the highlighter to enhance that sparkle & shine through out your entire night!
How To Apply Highlight
Step 1: Complete your regular makeup routine (Primer, Foundation, etc.) before applying highlighter or glitter.
Step 2: Choose Your Highlighter
When choosing a highlighter, we recommend choosing a highlighter that is two shades lighter than your foundation.
- For fair skin, try a pink-hued highlighter
- For medium skin, try a peach highlighter
- For dark skin, try a bronze highlighter
Step 3: Apply highlighter
We recommend a brush that is soft, fluffy, and angled. Angled brushes provide a more controlled application. It can be used for highlight, bronzor, and even blush!
You can apply highlighter...
- On the top of the cheekbones
- Tip of your nose
- On the bridge of your nose
- Inner corners of your eyes
- Center of your chin
- At the top of your mouth (Cupid's Bow)
- Underneath the arch of your eyebrows
Step 4: Add Glitter (Optional)
Depending on the type of highlighter you use, you can always rely on glitter to add even more sparkle to your makeup look. You can even use glitter to make artificial freckles. HOW CUTE!
You can apply glitter...
- On the top of your cheekbones
- Underneath your eyes
- Inner corners of your eyes
- On your shoulders
- On your chest
- Above the arch your eyebrows
Should I Use Highlighter or Glitter?
For the rave babes that are not 100% confident in applying glitter to your face, we recommend applying a subtle amount of highlighter then applying actual glitter. The highlight will act as a guide when applying glitter to those areas which will make it a little easier.
If it is your first time, start with a small amount of glitter then gradually add more. This way you can prevent getting your entire face all glitter, unless you want to rock a completely sparkly face because that cool too!
Remember practice makes perfect. Don't get discouraged if you feel you aren't getting the results you want. There are many different ways to wear highlight & glitter. You just have to find the way that makes you feel your absolute best inside & out!
Also- You are more than welcome to add as much or as little highlight/glitter as you wish. Just always remember to have fun while you experiment!
